The Team @ Noble Fleece Alpacas

Jean Scott & Lewis Snyder

Our story starts with an assertive driver in a big pickup truck and a lady in a much smaller vehicle. A little road rage turned into a roadside chat and then so much more!

Our alpaca journey began because of the ‘more.’ Jean was a worldwide traveler, with clients needing her extremely diverse eyewear & strategic business consulting services around the globe. A life-long entrepreneur, she was wanting to stay closer to Dallas & the ‘more,’ which would be Lewis. Thus began ‘operation reinvention.’

Over numerous adult beverages, the idea of raising alpacas was formulated. Instead of moving to NYC for Jean’s consulting, we found a little piece of God’s country in north Texas. Together, we started learning everything possible about alpacas. There were seminars and online courses, as well as much learning from amazing mentors.

Alpacas were our choice, as they could afford us an outside, animal-raising lifestyle without the need to kill them to be successful.  They are incredibly environmentally friendly, as well as produce a renewable fiber…both important on our small acreage.

Our first alpacas moved onto our property in September 2019. We started with four and have had as many as 42. Our current herd size averages 20-22. We focus our business on raising white and fawn-colored Huacaya alpacas.  We continually work to improve the quality of our animals and, subsequently, the fiber they produce.  Our herd’s genetics are paramount to us, as we work to advance our animals in every way possible.

The ‘alpaca lifestyle’ has a very real meaning to us and, fortunately, it helped keep us sane and safe during the COVID pandemic. COVID did, however, spoil our big wedding festivities but the party is yet to come!

We do love sharing these wonderful creatures that bring us so much joy! Lewis now even enjoys the neo-natal wet labs, where he continues to learn about birthing our little ones, known as cria.  We recently expanded our business into agri-tainment (that is, agriculture being used as entertainment) and are venturing into the online retailing of amazing alpaca products, with some being made from our own fleece.  The textiles that we source – such as socks, throws, hats and gloves – are produced by artisans in Peru where Fair Trade practices are employed.

One of our favorite activities is mentoring others as they begin their path into the alpaca lifestyle, while we continue to advance ours.  We assist in finding the right animals and working with our clients along their journeys.  We’re always only a call / text / email away!

Jewel & Thor

Jewel and Thor are our Belgian Tervurens. While they are a ‘herding’ breed, they are not guard dogs. However, please do not tell them that! They instantly are on their way to scold they boys when they tussle or see what’s making the girls sound the ‘alarm.’

Jewel has flown more air miles than most Americans, as she lived in Asia for the first four years of her life. She’s a heck of a traveler, as well as being very adept at getting her running in on a treadmill when the weather is bad.

Thor is taking lessons from Jewel, but he has big shoes to fill. He is working on his AKC titles at present. Hold a good thought!
